What are the differences between rimfire and center fire scopes. I've just ordered an Anshutz benchrest .22 and have a couple decent Nikon scopes that Im considering putting on it. Just not sure if there are any issues with doing that.

rim fire scope tend to have parallax set at 50yds center fire 100 or adjustable.. a rim fire scope wont last long on a center fire, but any scope will do on a .22

No issues with mounting a Nikon rimfire scope on a center fire scope whatsoever. They are manufactured to the same spec except for the parallax adjustment to 50 yards instead of 100.

Are you going to be competing in rimfire benchrest? Get on a rimfire site and find out what the winners are using. You've got to make weight in different catagories too. Competition quickly sorts out the good from the bad, the appropriate from the inappropriate, and even the best deals for the money. Something about a scoreboard that strips away the BS.

I took a Anschutz built for Rimfire benchrest on trade awhile back, and it was fitted with a 20 X Leupold benchrest scope. That could be an antique by todays standards as far as I know, but is a revelation in what propose built tools can be.
