Difference between SKS and VZ strippers?

Hello everyone,

I am in the US. Down here, VZ-58 stripper clips are almost nonexistant. I have a bunch of SKS stripper clips from yugo 7.62x39. They seem to work ok with my VZ-58. Is there a difference in the actual VZ-58 stripper clips that allows them to work better with the VZ-58? Like I said, the yugo SKS clips work ok, but I don't have any basis for comparison. The Czech rifles are just starting to catch on down here, so a lot of us don't have much practical experience yet. You guys already know a great deal about the VZ-58 already, so this is a great place for me to learn. I'm also a huge M-14 fan, so this forum is a great place to hang around. TIA for any insight you can give.
 
VZ58s use the same stripper clips as a SKS

the Czech ammo I have use the same stripper clips as my soviet stripper cilps "no difference"

VZ52s and VZ52/57s are different
 
There is no VZ specific stripper clip AFAIK.

The VZ58 rifle was designed to use the standard soviet ammo much the same as the SKS. But as an external magazine fed weapon there is much less emphasis on from-a-clip reloading. Consequently loading from a stripper clip is nowhere as slick as with an SKS even though the VZ is designed for it.
 
Thanks very much! That is what I wanted to know. There has been just a bit of controversy about that. Down here, some say they are SKS clips, and others say they are different.

It would be interesting to see if the companies that are manufacturing the bolts with ambi capability modified the standard VZ stripper clip area in their reworked bolts to match the SKS.

Then you would have the best of both worlds.

I have 3 stripper clips which I got from Czechpoint-USA.

I do not know why, but they are horrible, I've tried to reload using them 12 times. Out of 12, I was only able to do it once. It seems that it gets stuck somewhere and ammo just does not go.

Could any please point me to a video on how to do it, or maybe make a video :). I am really not sure what I am doing wrong.

Indeed.

Wouldn't be all that difficult either. All they'd have to do is tighten up the channel on the bolt-carrier.

You've got to line up the clip with the bolt carrier notch and the notch in the top of the mag and then the cartridges can be pushed right in. Or at least that's how it should work.

Here's a video I made for another discussion on here. You can see the procedure pretty well from 40 to 50 seconds.

AFAIK Czechpoints Stripper Clips are Chinese surplus, not Czech or Ruski..

Chinese quality at it's finest. They're meant to be used once and dropped. The Czech and russian ones are a little stronger and hold up to reuse better.
 
I might try to purchase some surplus Yugo ammo on clips, maybe it will solve my issue.

So far, it is not even close to what I see in video. I literally had to use both hands to push and then once it pass some point it goes really easy, can be pushed with one finger. I've tried both, loading with a magazine and without.
 
burf151 and powah : send me your name and address and i will send you a few of the czech stripper clips to try , they are plentiful here .
 
i started to keep mine awhile ago, now ill have to get my buddies to give me theirs too!

ive started recently to load my mags (out of the gun) with the clips, it takes a little practice to line them up right (and to only push in five at a time) but it saves time loading if you can figure it out.
