I was reading another post that someone mentioned wolf ammo in Kingston for reloads. On their site they offer lead, FMJ, and TMJ.

TMJ is a lot cheaper than FMJ... can I use it in a sig pro, and a Glock?

What is the difference between them?

Thanks in advance :)

If I'm not mistaken,

FMJ=lead bullet 'pushed' into a copper jacket with the bottom exposed (lead)
TMJ=lead bullet 'electroplated' all over with a thin copper layer

I've used TMJ bullets in Glocks, Sigs, Berettas, H&Ks with no ill effect.
Go with Wolfgang Hoffmann at Wolf Ammo, he is a good guy to deal with.

Perfect answer. 10 points :)

"...why is it cheaper..." The FMJ's jacket is thicker and isn't electroplated on. Marstar sells Frontier CMJ's. Same thing as a TMJ.

"...TMJ spitzer rifle bullets..." CMJ/TMJ same thing, different manufacturer. There are some rifle bullets with these "jackets", but most are pistol bullets. They're made for indoor shooting where people are concerned with lead in the air. Marstar's Frontier made .308 TMJ's are flat points. Spizter's tend to be driven faster than the light coating of a CMJ/TMJ can handle.

I believe the TMJ's we are talking about are plated as opposed to a true jacket... hence the cheaper price...
True jacketed TMJ (Hornaday) or CMJ from MG/BDX should be more expensive because of the labor (the extra jacketing, cupping and swaging) and the cost of the 2nd Jacket...
