Difference in .308 and 30/06 Garand stocks

I'm seing both types advertised as well as some that have been converted from .308 to 30/06 . what are the differences and are they interchangeable?

The differnce is how the 308 conversion was done. There are some italians ones where they took 30-06 bbls and shortened them a half inch so that they could rechamber to 308. This shortening also required the rear hand gaurd and stock to be shortened 1/2 inch as the lower band was now that much closer to the receiver. Purpose built 308 bbls will be the exact same as 30-06 on the outside.

All m1 receivers interchange. They can be barrelled in either calibre, the rest interchanges except for some Italian guns pre-dating the BM59 that got shortened usgi barrels, stocks and op rods. Those parts are not common though.

There is a feed block you can install on a GI receiver converted to .308, but it will work without it. Just prevents someone trying to load a .30-06 end block.
