difference in these two para ordnance models

I've been all over Para's site and searched the web. The only visible difference is the hammer, grips, ambi safety, and a slight difference in rear sight profile (and ~$50).

Any functional diff. besides the safety. Why are models so similar to each other offered?

They donate $25 of your extra $50 on the more expensive one to the NRA ... it's their "gun rights" promotional model. You pay extra for good karma.

I think as a Canadian company, they should donate that money to the CSSA, when it's purchased by a Canadian.

I suggest you buy the cheaper one, and donate the extra money to the CSSA yourself.

Another thing to consider is some grips won't have the proper clearance for the ambi safety (right panel).

FWIW, Armco advertises a McCormick ambi safety at 50.00

That's about the difference in their list price ($50).

They are not the 'same', but I'll call them that...too similar to make a difference to me.
