Finally managed to acquire Makarovs from each of the countries that produced them for their militaries.
Clockwise from the top Bulgarian, Chinese, East German and Russian.

Nice family photo! My friend has a similar collection, and I find his East German the nicest of the lot.

My Mak is commercial production and has the pinocchio barrel but it is CRAZY accurate for such a little pistol. I've been told it's because it is a fixed barrel (like a Walther PP/PPK).

I'd have to say the East German is the best, followed by the Bulgarian, the Chinese and lastly the Russian. They're all pretty good though.

They are wicked little guns.
I have deeply regretted selling my old one for a long time.
Ammo was unobtanium for a long time back then.
One of the most accurate and reliable pistols I've ever shot

I’ve got the three European versions and the East German has by far the nicest fit and finish.
I had the opportunity to get a Chinese copy twice but couldn’t bring myself to put a Chinese gun in the safe.
Some prejudices die hard.
