Thank for posting this link. Being involved in wood business, where we use a lot of black walnut Juglans nigra and sometime European walnut Juglans regia, I find that article very informative. I was always puzzled by the difference between the French, English and Turkish walnut knowing they were the same species.

What type of walnut are you using on your latest build?
My rifle is just getting started soon as Wayne is just getting yours finished up. Mines English walnut

Very interesting, the bastogne is the wood type for big calibers it seems. Good to know.

The same species of any thing Grown or Raised in Different locations
Elevations & Climates can be Indistinguishable from others of the same Plant.

The last three stocks I refinished were done the exact same way with the exact same products. All walnut yet vastly different. Thought it was worth a picture.
