ok so I own several Lakefield mossberg 500a's and I wanted some spare parts thats what started this topic...so I found a guy selling them and he said " all 500 parts are the same and are interchangeable" i knew off the top the older bolts and slides were totally different but I thought the other components may just be the same, so I bought them.

The photo showing 2 interuptors is the photo I took. Mine is the lower 500a interuptor and the top was the one I was sold apparently out of another 500/88 gun ....... clearly different and I couldn't install the top interuptor in my gun it wouldn't even fit in the recievers hole.

What is the differences because when you Google " Cartidge stop/interuptor" both of these parts come up listed for the same gun ...the same with the cartidge stop, my older style has more of a curve in the section that mates with the slide than the one I was sold which was almost completely flat. anybody know more in depth??
Clearly there are 2 different designs and they function differently
My style uses the action bar slide to push the interuptor downward but the second design uses the elevator to push it in place )
attached is a video /url where he shows both ...... the most confusing part is modern guns have the same style i got and both my guns are from 1978.... so if i have the " old style" why is it the exact same as the modern guns and parts mossberg sells?

I also attached 3 other photos, 1 is of mossbergs website showing there replacement interuptor, the other 2 are both adds for sale with the title saying "500a" so 2 different styles in the same gun ?

I’ve had, and still have, many parts for the Mossberg guns over the years.
Take nothing for granted when it comes to replacing parts. Variations abound within models and years.
