Right now, until January 2nd, Canadian Tire has the MotoMaster digital caliper for 10 bux. If you reload you NEED something like this.
They read to .0001 (a ten-thousandth); but you shouldn't trust it any further than a thousanth, or 2.
This will not take the place of a micrometer; but are great for measuring stuff like overall length.

I use the same one, it's ok. Compared it to an expensive one at work and it checked out fine. Have been using it for 3 years probably.

got one myself too, only complaint is the batters seem to go dead, even when not used, but for the price its worth the hassle to pull the battery when not in use, dont use it much any way, but measures just fine to my more expensive dial calipers

I have one that I use as a backup to my Mitutoyo caliper. Both give the same measurements, so the Mastercraft is OK to me.
The battery dies if you leave it installed, so I pull the battery until I need it.

I cant find batteries for mine as I live in a small town ...might just buy another one just for the batteries at that price .

Are they are weird battery? My Mitutoyo has very easy to find (dollar store) batteries.... I am always replacing them, It seems to turn on by itself all the time. I think I might just stop at CT and get one of these. Sounds like they are ok...

We get these goofy pens from one drug company that have a light on them so you can write in the dark I guess. The battery always gets stolen and put in the calipers instead. Since I used a cheap plastic caliper for 20 years the CT ones work perfect.

Regular battery, 2032 or 2025 or whatever the other common one is.

My batt has LR44 0n it ..just checked a batt cross reference web page and a AG76 will work or a RW82

For you fellows that find that the unit is using up the battery, when you close it all the way and turn it off, remember to tighten down the screw on top this will help extend your battery life. A little tip I got from an older thread on these CT calipers. FS

There's a guy in Ontario on eBay that I buy all my coin and button cell batteries from. He sells them for $1/20 PCs and $4 shipping. 5 bucks to my door. They are damn good batteries, I can't believe how long they last. I had bought some CR2016s for the key fob for my truck from Princess Auto for almost $3 each. They lasted a month before they died. EBay batteries get me over a year in the same key fob before they need replacement. Same story with his other batteries. Plus being in Canada I get them in a week rather than over a month from China. At any rate the batteries for these are LR44/AG76. Dirt cheap to buy in bulk on eBay. I think I change the batt in these calipers maybe twice a year.

I ordered a 10 pack of batteries for my Canadian tire unit on eBay, cost me a whole $0.99 LR44 seems to ring a bell
