I'm soon to buy a second handgun... I already have a gen4 glock17 and want another 9mm as backup.

The glock19 would be a great choice, compatible magazine from the G17 and holster, glock light that I have... I'm sold to glock, love these firearms.

On the other hand, I always loved the walther p99 look, would make love to this gun :)

What would you do?

I take it from your choices, you're looking for a smallish pistol. Take a look at Sig P229

If you want to try something really nice in your hand try a CZ 75 SP 01 Shadow.. Great value and shoots like nothing else in it's catagory.

Despite your bold text, I have to disagree. :p
The man clearly wants something built to professional standards, as he is looking to manufacturers from Austria and Germany.

No_Use_, another brand to look at is H&K.

Tough to pick just one more.
The g19 is the easiest choice since holster/g17 mags will work with both. But,,,, I have a thing for the grip on the PPQ, and must add one to my collection someday.
Held an HK USP last weekend and added it to my list as well. I'm a big DA/SA hater, but this trigger felt SMOOTH.

Good luck deciding!

G17 & 19 use the same magazines and holsters? If that's the case, I think your decision is easy. If you like Glocks, keep it simple.

However, if you want something different and polymer, I'd recommend an H&K like another poster has. I love mine.

Sort of, but not exactly...

All 9mm Glock mags work in 9mm Glocks as long as the guns grip is long enough. The g17 is full size, compared to the g19 compact, and g26 sub-compact.
They can all take the 33rnd mag and the g17 mag, but you can't insert a g19 or g26 mag into a 17 as it is too short.

The retention on a level 1 kydex holster is around the trigger guard. The dimensions of the 17 and 19 are identical in that spot, so a g17 holster will work with a g19, but not vice-versa on a closed end holster, as the g19 slide is shorter.

I'd go with the G19 - not as prone to breakage as the P99 (well actually not as prone to breakage as almost anything) - cheaper parts, easier to service, cheaper accessories, better sights (even the factory ones). There's a reason that real world guys use Glocks, and movie guys use guns like the Walther.

Yes.

Preference for objective function? Glock. Preference for subjective form? Walther (OP's preference).

Nothing wrong with owning guns for subjective reasons, IMO.
