Dilemma

Those Nikon rimfire scopes are pretty good for about $200 …..have one on my main gopher gun and it’s awesome .

Warranty is effectively garbage though. Nikon doesn't make scopes anymore, so despite them technicially having a fantastic warranty they have no product to replace it with, so you'll end up with a giftcard IIRC.

Mr Chrismr2, i dont want to be to hard with you.
I tried my friend brand new CZ 457 bull barrel in 22, shoots great and fun rifle.
I dont have an extra wide ammo selection,
Today i tried the Federal Auto match and some Eley Contact.
Just a teaser !!!
enjoy

Buy once and cry once! Both in rifle and optics. Like life YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. As Sillymike has advised, Id include the ladies in the equation on the end results. Welcome to the forum and great to see the ladies interest in the shooting sports.

Maybe I'm weird... but if the wife/daughter wanted/needed a rifle to come with me to the range
- I'd sure be looking for the best rifle/scope I could afford...
- Involve them in the buying process (It's not because you like something that they will)

a partner that shoots is worth their weight in gold :)

Definitely agree there, part of the reason I loved my Brno was because my dad had me involved in that decision, I bought the cz off my brother knowing it was for my wife and daughter and they knew that too, so now I’m looking at something for myself, and am going to let them use the cz455 for now and if they like shooting enough then we can decide if they want something different, maybe they’ll try other rifles and find something they like better, but yeah your right they should definitely be apart of and if my wife ends up liking shooting then further purchases may be easier!

You just don’t like making things easy for me do you! Lol. A cz 457 varmint mtr was also in my list of ones I like, but was being pushed out by the other options and you have to bring it back into the equation! Haha It is what my brother bought to replace the 455 he sold me, so it kinda makes me want to go a different direction so we don’t have the same thing.

Agree totally, like I just said above to sillymike, going to include them for sure. And yeah I totally get the idea with you get what you pay for and do it once, my dad taught me from a young age to always buy the best or better model of something as it’s cheaper in the long run, although that has probably costed me a lot of money over the years with all kinds of purchases as I research the crap out of everything now, headphones, tv, cars, jackets , shoes it doesn’t matter what I buy I usually want the best even though I may not need it! And doesn't help the bank account either! (but in theory I’m saving as I’m buying the right thing first! And don’t have to buy it over again repeatedly!Or so I tell myself)

I commend you for trying to bring the ladies in your life to the shooting sport... but stop thinking like a guy.

there is a rifle for every season and each season you have to change... so stop trying to find ONE answer.

that is so last season... :)

All the best and enjoy... but don't be surprised if the ladies outshoot you in due time.

Jerry

PS... just get one of each....

1. Keep the CZ.
2. Buy another CZ.
3. Dump the UTG. (Just personal experience. Two that sucked horribly)
4. Buy two Vortex, Athlon, Nikon, or other dependable scopes.
5. Have fun with two solid rigs and upgrade from there if you ever feel like the guns aren't as accurate as you.

I didn’t know that . I think I bought that prostaff about five years ago so things have changed .
So far it’s holding up great after a few thousand kills . Knock wood it won’t need repairs but at this point it doesn’t owe me anything .

I think you hit the nail on the head there, I need them all! Probably will get a few over time, just have to choose one to live with for a bit, and the women’s club said my daughter was a “natural” so maybe she will be outshooting me soon! Bring on the challenge!

I think you need to narrow down both your purpose and your budget, THEN pick a rifle.

I think you’re right, making a list of the rifles and scopes I’m interested in and the prices. Gonna start with just for range first as my current cz can do target and hunting if needed, so just got to decide on the budget now.

Yup, not going to use the UTG, probably putting it on one of my air rifles, and may end up with a cz, local store has 457 in a mdx chassis, as well as a t1x, so gonna go see what those feel like and who knows may end up going home with one, although my brother already got a 457 to replace the 455 he sold me so unless it feels amazing I’d like to try something different.
