Dillon 1050s

The only store I have seen one actually setup as a demo unit is CRAFM in Montreal, Firearms Outlet Canada in Ajax Ontario also stocks them.

Be prepared for parts support you will most likely need to sourcing them directly from Dillon. I highly recommend any Fast and Friendly Brass 1050 modifications. Anything he makes is top notch. If you are running a drive unit there are some stock pieces that won't hold up.

Only drawback is that he will not ship internationally so you need to use a freight forwarding agent.

Dan Clausen over at Inline Fabrication is great to deal with. I have used a variety of his items. Anyone who buys a 1050 who is not going the Mark Vii route I recommend his strong mount and ergo roller handle (even for the 1050). Anything that he makes is the best quality. IE his strong mount is twice a thick steel as the Dillon strong mount and it is powder coated (optional I think) for a much more resilient finish.

I have bough a number of things from Dan at Inline, his products are amazing and his service is awesome.
 
The Mark Vii is an extremely great piece of kit. I have had all three major auto-drives for the 1050 platform and it is by far the best. There are some minor issues as with any product in its infancy. However it runs extremely well and very reliably. My only drawback when using it vs my Camdex is that there is no crack check and it runs slower. However for 95% of people it is more than they would need. I just installed the pro-kit and I am currently processing 40SW at 2400 pieces per hour, true output though is probably around 1800.
 
I am not aware of any courses in regards to progressive reloading being available. I know there are some basic courses around. While a 1050 is a slick piece of kit by itself; it is not a beginners press. I would start with a 550 until you understand the process and are familiar how things should work. At that point then I would consider upgrading to a 1050, once you are familiar with the platform I would look at the drive unit.

This is why -
mistake on a 550 = a small amount of poor quality ammo or cheap broken parts
mistake on a 1050 = a large amount of poor quality ammo or expensive broken parts

Good advise Black Sheep! I would add to BlackSheeps comment that when you out grow your 550 you will have absolutely no problems selling it to fund your next press.
