Dillon 550 B static problem.

So im trying to reload my 243 win on my Dillon 550b and the problem that im noticing is on that once I place my powder charge there is always a few more grains falling out of the funnel after I pull back the handle.
At the end of the session im left with a work bench that has a lot of powder on it and im not to happy about it.

First thing that I did was call Dillon tech support.

Their explanation was that there is electro static in my powder system which causes the powder to cling on to the sides of the funnel.
Their advise was to take the powder system apart.(die, funnel, reservoir, etc’) and wipe it down with an anti static dryer sheet and that would need to be done every so often when static builds up. (How often the guy couldn’t tell me)

So….
After I got the powder system connected and calibrated just the way I want it in order to fit snugly….. I really don’t like the idea of taking it apart messing around with it and putting it back together “every so often”, recalibrating etc’’’.
Do any of you have experience with this problem ? or any suggestions on how to eliminate the static from the powder system that wouldn’t involve taking it apart “every so often” (especially in the middle of reloading).

Thank you.

Are you sure you're not cranking too fast?

I had a similar problem when I started loading .223 on my 550. I was cranking too fast, and some grains of powder didn't have time to go through the funnel into the case, so they spilled on the floor.

Now, I wait about 1/2-1 second on the bottom, and I haven't had an issue since.

You could also polish the inside of the funnel to speed up the flow.. I've heard that helps as well.

Wipe down the powder reservoir with a bounce sheet. This works really well and leaves no residue. I also found this to work great on my chargemaster too.
