Hi all,

just getting a start at reloading .45 ACP, I'm looking for a press, 550B Dillon a buddy will sell me the dies and toolhead.

Case prep gear, possibly an all in one vertical set up like the Hornady, is Hornady the only maker of this type of set up?

Any leads on this would be greatly appreciated.

Never use one for centre fire myself, if rifles were added later I would use a much less expensive prep centre but it's not a must have

Recently used one of these and was quite impressed. Can't comment about the longevity but the tool trims, chamfers, debuts and cleans primer pockets. The RCBS prep centre will require you to buy a separate trimming system.

Thanks for the input all. The only advantage I see to the Hornady set up is it allows you to trim as well as clean the case, handling the case once, removes one step. Also one clean up of trimmings.

I really like my 550, found it at an auction for $200 and never looked back! I don't bother doing any case prep other than tumbling and function has been flawless almost 2000 rounds in.

You need to dress up a lot of brass to make some of the more expensive options for a prep center justify the cost.

Me? I got suckered in by the cost of a Lyman prep center. It was within my mad money budget and I'd just bought 1000 shiny new Starline casings that needed dressing up of the mouths.

The Lyman has worked out fine for me and done so at roughly half the cost of the next cheapest option that plugs into a wall.
