I have a Dillon 650 set up in 9mm right now. I also have a complete 45acp conversion kit with the stand, die head, powder measure, powder check, dies, case feeder plate, and everything else needed to convert into large pistol primers. Typically how long are you finding it takes you to complete a conversion on your 650? I've never attempted one before so I'm interested in knowing the time frame involved. Thanks!

Depends if you have to change the primer size tray and piston to large instead of small pirmers.

It takes about 15-30 mins if I have to find the tools or not

I also have the automatic case feeder to change over as well though. Automatic primmer feeder... so it takes a little more time then normal its easy yo change over. Replace the shell plate, change the primmers over sometimes some 45 is small primers so.

The first time is a bit discouraging if you're not very familiar with dismantling and reassembling the relevant parts. It took me a couple days the first time, mainly because that's how long it took me to realize the ball bearing under the shell plate didn't get stolen by gremlins, but had fallen inside the middle hole where the bolt screws into. Once you know what you're doing and get practiced, it doesn't take much more than 15 to 20 minutes if everything goes smoothly. Keep in mind that many of us don't do the conversion often because we produce 1,000's of rounds after the changeover, so it's usually a good time to do the cleaning and lubricating thing. Add another 10 minutes at least for that.

Thanks for the replies. I can live with a 1/2 hr change over. I was thinking it might take longer than that and was almost considering another 650 to keep one setup in 9mm and the other 45acp. I still may, we'll see how I like the change over.

Get another one already!! The two siblings will each want one eventually!
Oh and later on they can each be reloading bullets for you to shoot. (Bonus)
