Dillon 650 Reloading 45ACP - Constant Jamming

As per the title, I am getting constant jams on my Dillon 650. When I bring the shellplate to the upright position, this causes the case feed arm to swivel as expected, dropping a case through the casefeed body bushing onto the station 1 locator.

The issue is that when the case is dropped onto the station 1 locator, it seems as though the shell and the casefeed bushing are not properly aligned. This prevents me from fully cycling the arm, and I frequently have to use a long stick/screwdriver to help properly align it, so I can do a full cycle.

Hopefully what I described above makes sense, and hopefully someone can help me out.

The best advice is to call Dillon 800-223-4570, phone in hand, standing at the press with the manual open in front of you and the components that cause the failure in hand.

In the meantime, I have had similar issues earlier in the feed cycle, it turned out to be a worn spring (replaced free).

I don't quite get this problem though – was it ever working properly and if so was anything changed?

I am curious as well if you had done a caliber change vs what it came set up with? I just upgraded to a XL650 and caliber changes look pretty intense vs what I was using before.

Are you using the right casefeeder adapter for this caliber?

Sorry, not a 650 user, but if it's similar to the 1050 there's likely a bushing that the case feeder tube enters that is specific to the caliber/size of case you are using. It it's wrong or missing, the case will either jam or be improperly aligned for feeding into the shellplate.

The .45 body bushing that came with my conversion kit was a little too long and was touching the lower part of the casefeed arm preventing it from cycling smoothly. I filed it and it works fine now

Mac it sounds like the ramp that moves that hole on a swivel isn't aligned. Mine is flush right on the back, above the aluminum plate. there is a allen keyed bolt that you adjust it with. Hope this helps.

Hey guys!

Thanks for all of the help so far. As it turns out, unfortunately none of the solutions posted were what I needed. I had supper, and sat down in front of the press, and re-read the manual a couple of times. This was my first time ever running pistol on the press, and as a result, I did not catch on that the case insert slide had to be flipped around! Doh! I feel like such an idiot.

Yes, I have done multiple caliber changes, vs what the press came in (press came in .223, and have I been switching between that, .308 and now, .45). It can be a timely process, especially if you have to change around the primer system, but if you save up ammo runs for one go, then that would be the preferred route to take!

I'm going to try and run 9mm and 40S&W together and leave the 45acp until I'm almost out. Priming system switch does look a little intimidating but I'll just make sure to take my time the first couple times through.
