Dillon 650 single stage conversion.

Wrong things come to mind with the coat hanger method. Let’s just say PLAN B was my plan B. And yes what you found on google is likely what I was referring to, converting the center of the press for a single stage operation.

Yes, I have one. I use it very occassionally, normaly when I load a small batch of 'my very best' 308. I find it simplifies the specific process you are undertaking.

Is it better than just owning a single press? Unlikley, but I like the ability to just use the one die, for that specific process, to a high degree of accuracy. Going from one stage back to progressive was a bit of pain at first, now it takes a couple minutes and I'm back to mass 9mm production.

I also have limited space, so my one press 'does all' approach is maintained.

Candocad.

MMMM...cant see going through all that bother and money waisting when you can convert any 650 to a single stage (and back again) in as little as 30 seconds.

Two ways to do this, one is to remove the two caphead screws that hold the advancing dog (a black plastic piece screwed to the blue frame on the bottom left side) and remove the dog. Second is just as easy to convert to single stage but a bit more of a chore to re-install...simply remove the long "advancing paul" spring from under the turret head at both ends and your done.

Both of these operations just remove the advancement ability of the shell plate, You use the same shell plate & toolhead you would use in regular operation.
