I'm looking at buying the Dillon Rapid Trim case trimmer and had a question for anyone who owns one.

It says that you're supposed to use a case gauge to adjust the sizing die. While I don't have that much of a problem buying one as they aren't that expensive, I'm curious as to why you need one to set this die where with every other die on the face of the planet they manufacture them to touch the shell holder plus a bit to set them.

Thanks

I havent looked at that but can you not just use a sized, trimmed case?

Same as a gauge I would assume, just brass and hollow.

If you touch the shell holder you will over trim the case and crash the carbide cutter into the die.

Also buy an RCBS lock ring with the Allen screw to lock it down.
The Dillon locknut is crap.
