Dillon RL 550B

Like I said... I'd trust a private sector company to move my goods over USPS any day...

Do enough shipping and you will see that there is no noticeable difference it reliability or quality of service. UPS loses lots of stuff and has all kinds of problems too. But like everyone else is saying, it's your dollar so it's up to you how you spend it.

UPS stinks for cross border shipping - I never use them. USPS only.

i agree only use ups if you want rediculous brokerage fees. i just recently got a package sent up (value $200) shipping was $56 from florida and brokerage at my door was $80 i was pissed my fault tho i forgot to specify usps

Dillion's number ,1800-762-3845. I've ordered twice last year. Price allways includes shipping to my door. Excellent to deal with ,no problems , answers all reloading questions on setting up my 550 . Priced right , compared with prices on Vancouver Island.

Buy a Hornady lock and load auto-progressive. They are very high quality, less expensive to start up and calibre changes are quick and easy.

There are several things I'd pass on to lighten the load and for various other reasons
- Corn cob media - I'd buy this locally, and then I'd buy it in bulk from a blasting supply shop for 25$ per 50lb bag. For a tumbler, I love the CV2000
- Spare parts kit - Brand new, you shouldn't need this for a few years at least. And then it really only serves its purpose if you load at the last minute and need a spare at the last minute.
- Tool head with wrench set - Kinda over priced. There is nothing in there that you can't buy locally for less.

Two things I'd recommend (at least once you're settled) more primer tubes and the auto case dispenser.

Happy loading!:ar15:

you wont need the case lube if you are loading 9mm, I got my scale at lebarrons for cheaper, I would also recomend and pack of primer pickup tubes. Tool holder is over priced and you can get the tools you need locally for cheaper.

I use case lube on my 9mm...just because you don't have to...doesn't mean you shouldn't ;)

550b

I bought a 550B and have used it for at least 5 years before any plastic parts started to get loose. The spare part kit is o.k. to have on hand if you worry about your press breaking down but not necessary right away. The tool head is un necessary, a set of wrenches, is just fine. Like the other users have stated media is cheap and available at lots of places. Shipping does not only depend on weight but also size, save some money buy it locally. I don't have the strong mount or the tray that goes with it, but have never tried one with it, so don't know if that is a good purchase or not. One thing you will want later on is a caliper set you won't need a real expensive one, but you will want one. buy that locally also. You will want more primer tubes, when you get going to is so easy, fun that you will not want to stop and to have them filled and on hand is great! I don't have the case feeder but would like to try one.

Other than tons of powder, primers, bullets thats the list. Have fun and be safe.

Thanks twig_40 et al

I am rethinking the tool head and a couple other things that I don't really need and will most likely drop them. I will get more primer tubes for sure. Already have a few digital calliper sets and a rock tumbler from past projects. Buying the powder, primers, bullets locally, but even though I would like to get the other parts locally, there doesn't seem to be anyone in Canada that has everything.

Going to order at the first of the week, as I'm a tad anxious to get going on this.

Thx
