I live in a small apartment and work nights so id like to start doing prep after work with out pissing off the locals. i was curious about other peoples setups ?

im gonna try building a muffler similar to one on a built-in household vacuum . my vacuum is a 20 dollar CT special (jobmate brand) that lives under my bench in a confide space. also going to wrap that baby in foam to insulate noice and dampen vibration

ideas and imput would be great ...or if any one knows of quieter vacuums

Your foam wraping solution may muffle sound but will cause overheating of the vacumes motor.
Try to keep the air vents open arround the motor for heat disipation.....unfortuneatly this means minimal sound dampening.

By building a box for your vacume to fit inside and then lining that box with OPEN cell foam (couch cusions, mattress pad) you have better sound dampening than styrofoam. Either cut small strategicly located vent holes in the box or run for short periods of time.

Before you go spending money, turn the thing on and pop out into the hall way. If you can't hear it from there, your neighbours won't either.
