Yesterday I was reloading some ammo with my 550B in preparation for the IPSC provincials next weekend when my press started doing a weird clunking noise while raising the shell plate. After investigation I realized that the press-fitted carbide sizing bushing in the sizing die has become loose and was moving up and down in the die. After a few more reloads the bushing completely came out of the die. That die reloaded well over 10 000 rounds before failing.

Because I had to load ammo for the provincials I attempted to repair the die. I first tried applying some anaerobic bearing/bushing retaining compound onto the meeting surfaces and pressed the bushing back into the die with a vice. After curing I tried it and it lasted only for 2 rounds. I then tried again with some red loctite and it allowed me to load 400 rounds before becoming loose again. At least now I'm safe for the upcoming provincials.

I called their costumer support this morning and explained my problem. Without any hassle whatsoever they said that they will ship me a replacement one for free. Because I live in Canada they said that it wouldn't be cost effective for me to return the broken die upon receipt of the new one. So they also said that I could try crimping the die and/or silver soldering the bushing into the die. I'll probably try that while I'm waiting for the new die to arrive.

I am absolutely amazed by the quality of their service. I'll definitely buy from them again.

Same here - nothing but GOOD things to say about Dillon's costumer support! They are exceptional and have no issues replacing items even if you are at fault... I'm going to leave it at that! Heh. ;)

Couple months ago I broke a part on my sdb- my fault, no biggy. $12.00 on the website, so I ordered it online without talking to anyone. Next day I get an email that my order was cancelled.......wtf?? Contact customer service and they tell me that they determined the part was a warranty replacement and that it is already in the mail......free of charge. I will be buying more Dillon gear in the future.

Ok, I was searching threads for a Dillon for sale because I've decided on the 550B for myself, but this seals it. For them to note that you already owned that part and pick it out as a warranty replacement on their own is very impressive. Had you noted it anywhere in the order that it was to replace a broken one?
