My family and I were eating dinner when my wife looked at our front yard and said: That's a big bear. She grabbed the video, me the 870.

Note how he runs once I rack the shotgun. Smart bear

PS I simply wanted him off my wife's expensive new trees (he was nibbling on). On the other side of the trees behind him was a road, not a good shot area.

You might consider getting some rubber buckshot and rubber bullet shells from Margo. They aren't cheap but they are an effective, non-lethal hazing round for the real boneheads who won't take no for an answer.

Nice place BTW.

Thanks. I have a bear tag burning a hole in my pocket, just need the right angle and get him back into the property a few hundred meters.

Stupid question time: That's a black bear for sure - right?

Its always nice to look out your back door and see animals. Here are a couple pictures my dad took off the deck a few weeks ago. Im now considering learning how to shoot a bow. :)

All bucks are open right now. Why is there not an arrow through his lungs? The neighbors would never hear that shot!!! Would be a great shot of you at full draw on the 2nd floor balcony, bringing the pin onto the lungs......

I would be learning sooner than later. You could get the other kind of bow, that does not take much skill. The crossbow......

Yes, it's a black bear. Measure the width of the front paw, add 1 and you will find the length of the hide!:)

VEEEERY nice deer, I would be shooting for sure.

Are all 3 the same buck? It is hard to tell with pic #2. I still think that pic one and three are the same buck, photographed at least a few weeks apart. Look at the greenery with pic #3 and the 'fall' colors of pic 1 & 2. Great shots. How many guys are salivating right now? I sure am.

I just checked on the dates.
The first 2 pics were taken on Sept 8/08 and the 3rd pic was taken July 26/08. All taken around 5-5:30pm.

I havent seen the deer myself but my dad took the pictures. Anytime I'm at my parents house all I ever see are spikers or does.
I hear the same thing from my parents each time I look out the window. "No, you cant shoot deer off the deck"

The deer obviously have a safe spot to hide, hence their size and age. No doubts that we'll see them again.

I've been thinking about buying my parents a spotting scope and a small tripod for xmas. Sure would beat using the binoculars and would give me a better look at them.
