I have been trying to decide how to proceed on my 10/22 build . I can go hog wild and build an ultimate style rifle or should I just try to build a tack driving sleeper. You know, something I can take to the range and win a couple turkey shoots without looking like I just stepped off the set of Star Wars.

What do you think on either choice . I have to decide soom as I'm starting to get a big box of bits collected and nothing to build.

Thanks

My recomendations would be to get the following

10/22 carbine
GM 20 inch bull barrel
Revival industries Yukon stock
VQ hammer
Burris rings

and an auto-bolt release and an extended magazine release

you can hog out an original wood stock if you don't want to buy a new one... thats what I did... and it like it.

I just put a gm 18" bull on there, and power custom scope base, did a trigger job myself.... This is a kick ass gopher gun.

shortround,

If you're winning matchs, people will know that its not a stock 1022.....

Now that we have that out of the way......Assuming that you've added a VQ hammer, trigger, bolt and mag release, what stock fits your predominant shooting style? Do you do more field work, free hand or bench shooting?

Some of the "starwars" style stocks (typically a Boyds Blaster) don't bench very well, they are meant for off hand shooting. A monte-carlo type stock probably works better for the field; but will also work well on the bench.

Quite true , I guess that it will be a combination of field shooting and target plinking .

At least for now!!
