I just bought a couple of boxes of Hornady 17hmr v-max to try in my new rifle and was somewhat surprised to find them very dirty when I opened the box. In comparison to the CCI hollow points I bought there is a big difference. I haven't seen ammo this nasty since I last picked up a crate of surplus 7.62x39. Is it normal for Hornady to have such dirty ammo? I realize it really doesn't matter and it won't effect performance but I guess I expected better from rimfire ammo at a quarter a round. Here is a pic of the CCI, a dirty Hornady round, and a Hornady round that has been rubbed clean with a cloth. Any comments?
