Dirty short life Eastern Front

TV show series? Is it European made or North American? I just ran across that by chance. Tell us more about it.

Sorry folks I haven't heard about versions with subtitles or translated version...
Nice one, I've seen it all. With some goofs, though: scared to death guy tries to get to hospital to escape front line and shoots himself in his foot with his mosin. Dr. at hospital puls the bullet out... Ummm Hummm.

And, Steiner, it was Western front to my two grandpa's (one of them spent most of the War on eastern "front", watching japs) and their brothers...

Probably the ####tiest soldier to be was Russian, IMHO. If you fight, you die, you turn back, get shot, surrender, die as a slave. No better for Germans I guess, but at least you were regarded with as a bit more valuable (despite 20,000 executions, apparently!)

Amazing production for a Russian show... very good effects, like the guy cartwheeling from the shell impact... not easy to do.
Amazing indeed!
The Great Patriotic War. Nasty on all sides. No quarter given or taken.

This movie is called "Come and See" by Elem Klimov. A 1980's era Russian movie. Its very powerful, and is about a partisan boy's encounter with a German Einsatzgruppen. Nasty people for sure. The end will surprise you though. Although subtle, its far from saying "Russians good, Germans bad". Dont expect to have an easy night's sleep though.

If you missed it the first time, it'll take too much reviewing of history to explain in short order. :p Just look at Russian and Chinese losses military and civilian in WWII... compared to the whole. Take note then of the other allies' casualties, and who ran the show after the war. You'll get the idea quickly.

Oh yes, a you-tube video and a commie rockstar with a guitar is bound to give every commie a big hard on, when the subject is very bias.

Take a real look a Russia, open your eyes.

The grim reality and irony is the inhumane Soviet Regime under the Stalin dictatorship. The genocide, starvation and murder of innocent civilians prior to 1939 by Russia.

Why do you think so many people immigrated to other countries to get away from the Bolsheviks?

Maybe it wouldn't be so appealing had they shown this instead.

Either way, Commie Regime or Nazi Regime, they're both scum in the same league.

That is very true, but the matter of fact is they fought very hard. They were brutal and cruel, but it was the only way to meet a foe that was bent on enslaving or exterminating your race.

The Russians were seen as very, very tough, even by the Wehrmacht thought they were tough. In the book "Frontsoldaten", one German says how he would see Russians continuing their fighting with atrocious wounds. Theyd see Russians running around with their intestines cradled in their arms. The opression and harsh living conditions created very tough men, but in the end, very limited military training really showed in the proportional lists of casualties. Really, I think the "genius" of Zhukov is not that great. They just sent in wave after wave, and used the obvious tactic of encirclement at Stalingrad. The Russians relied on numbers and toughness, and willingness to die for their country, and it worked.
