So I get a new .22 from savage. First it shoot off center by a good 3" at 50 yards. I also know why after looking at it for a few minutes. Reasons I'm Disappointed or PO'd:

1st. The rear sight likes drifting so when I lay it down after shooting the sight moves off center after I spent 20-30 minutes centering it. NEED Lock tight or new rear sights. It was loose when I got it.
2nd. the people who were too help me get some peep sights on the gun are stupid. Tell me to come in then find out they have NO IDEA how to mount a peep sight on a Left Hand GUN despite me warning them in advanced its LH....seriously mount it on the action...DUH
3rd. No idea what Peep Sight models mount on the back of the action or if any will work on a Savage. (savage has models with a peep sight...and they have some in stock....and still no idea and wouldn't let me look at the guns with them either to see if I could figure it out).
4th. NO EMAIL inquires at savage must call them and before noon (local time or I'm SOL as they only have EST hours. Next gun I buy I hope I have better luck then this cause I'm ready to send it back with a big painted on letters spelling out FAULTY on the gun.

I sure hope Savage has a GOOD service Tech to help me with fixing/replacing my rear sight and the model # for the peep sight they use.

This is my 1st new (factory) gun and this is what I get...why am I not surprised my health is S**T, my luck is S**T, so why wouldn't my new gun be S**T. AHHHHH I feel like killing some inanimate objects with my shotguns now but it's too late for that tonight and I'd probably blow my own face off when the gun explodes with the way my luck has been the last 3 weeks. On the positive I got me a nice new Chainsaw......lets see how that works out too.

Can anyone help me by pointing me in the direction of a peepsight that mounts on the back of a savage .22. Seems the model I was looking at will require a visit to a gunsmith. I'd like to keep that as a LAST option as I don't want to put extra holes in the action unless there is NO OTHER CHOICE.

if this is a new rifle i would contact savage.i would think they would repair or replace the rifle.savage has a good customer service.it may have slipped through quality control with the poor fitting rear sight.

Before you end it all, check out the Williams gunsite website, they should have info on dif. peep sights and their application.

wow not sure if I'm more disappointed no or even more PO'd or both. Talked to savage the moment I mentioned Canada I get a number to call in Sask then they hang up, not even a have a good day. As for the number I was given. I'm to ship a rifle at MY COST to them to replace the part and the guy I was talking to only knew how to Mutter on a phone. (sarcasm on) WOW great service(sarcasm off)...wheres the wood chipper. Send me the part and I'll replace it cause really everyone calls in complaining about a drifting rear sight to get a new one when it's not messed up.

I'm gonna hold off getting a peep sight for this rifle till after I get it back....

i actaully called savage this week too! got the same number for the guy in sask...M&S stocking. he was real friendly and helped me out alot... ended up figuring out the problem with out me having to ship it to him though... anyways, hope your luck changes.

Williams makes a peep sight that will slide onto the receiver dovetail. Not a target peep, but usable for hunting. You might need a higher front sight.
Most target peeps require drilling and tapping, and mount on the left side of the receiver - no use to you.

I have always gotten email replies from Savage, usually very quickly and very friendly. They were very helpful with any questions I had, and seem to want to make sure the customer is happy. I would mention you would like to return the rifle for repair, I can't see them refusing you. I am very happy with Savage, and my experience has been great. I hope everything goes right for you. As far as a peep sight, I think the "Cub" model has one, so I can't see why you couldn't buy one.
