disappointed in Sako

From what I'm gathering it seems to be a problem with 30-06 length cartridges and low mounted scopes.
Maybe a higher mounted 50 mm objective length scope would work but that's not the combo I wanted.
I have 2 Leupold scopes sitting at home that I wanted to use...a vx2 4-12 x 40 AO CDS and a vx2 3-9x40 CDS. Neither will allow spent cases to eject in medium height rings.

Sounds like it. The 70 degree bolt lift does make finding a scope mount combo somewhat of a challenge. I do use a high mount on my .30-06 Sako 75 but it has never been a problem functionally.
 
One guy at the range rotated his scope 90 degrees so the elevation turret was facing left and the windage on top which cured the problem, but it seems a rifle should work with any normal scope /ring combination or there is a major design flaw.
 
Using medium height Leupold brand Sako ring mounts on my .375 H&H Mag. Kodiak. Tested to be totally reliable. In fact I made a real quick 2nd shot on my quickly escaping Bull Moose and dropped it this past season no problem. These rifles are mechanical artwork. :cool:

Thought of that but scope are CDS windpex. ...can't rotate.

You shouldn't have to do some stupid work around. It is just plain non acceptable to have to rotate scopes for the gun to function. Like I said before other companies can make a $300 gun eject with low mounted scopes so why can't sako on a gun that is over 2 grand.
Not sure about you guys but I would rather a $300 gun that functions all the time then a $2000 gun that functions for one shot
 
I just put a call into stoeger asking what scope and ring height I have to go to for reliable ejection. ..hopefully they will enlighten me.
 
I have two 85 Finnlights - one is .243 the other is 300 WM, Both have Zeiss Conquest 3-9's in Sako low ringmounts and I have never had an ejection issue with either rifle. Have cut my HP rifle collection down to just these two I like them so much.
 
Just turn your scope so the windage knob is on top. You just have to remember that your windage knob is now your elevation and elevation is now your windage. Unless you have side parallax then you're F@#$%ed.
 
Sako's response to this issue -

"Provided that the rifle fully extracts and ejects the spent casing, the rifle will be considered functional and serviceable"
...until you mount a scope on it and then it doesn't :jerkit:

Fixed a similar problem on a Lever action.
By ejecting the case very slowly, the point of contact was determined and required moving the scope only 1/4" forward.
He never knew what was done and never noticed the difference.
Discussed this problem with another gun owner, and the scope he was using in a hunting setup had target turrets and I could only assume he fixed the problem himself.
Previously, "Boo" see #2, asked for pictures of the rifle scope combination but do not recall seeing that information forthcoming.
All I can suggest is try moving the scope fore or aft. It might not take much but try the slow motion ejection to see where the problem starts.
