Discovery/Arken/DNT/Athlon.

I have 2x arken 5-25 and an athlon ares btr gen 2 4.5-27.

Both scopes have decent glass, tracking etc.

The arken would be a really nice scope with 5-20. The last 5x gets tight and kinda dark imho.

Same case with the ares. I find the 27 a little tight and dark.

I have regularly used both scopes on steel out to 600m on a variety of calibers, with good success off the bench.

Turrets on the arken are solid and tactile. The athlon is nice, but a touch spongy.

Parallax on both the arken is a little finicky.

That being said, I am a guy who typically shoots on 15x or so and doesn’t compete (except with myself)

Just slapping this here for anyone else interested.

I just picked up a Discovery 1-6x24 LHD, shipped to my door for $175 all in, direct from their website.

This model has a 34mm tube, SFP and BDC style reticle with illuminated centre dot. Includes flip up covers and sun shield.
Weighs 560g.

I’ve tried a few other discovery optics, including their more expensive LPVOS. I found them well built but too heavy for my use. I found their other LPVOs to lose some clarity at higher magnification. I sold them all.
I also have a couple other scopes/LPVOs on hand (by more established big name brands) to compare.

For the price, this model seems a great optic. Well built, clear glass, decent turrets. Seems like a true 1x. The illumination is clear and sharp on all settings with no bleed. Settings 5/6 almost too bright even on a sunny day.

My only gripe is the 34mm tube - I would of preferred 30mm to save a bit more weight and bulk.

For the price, new, with warranty and accessories AND shipping/tax, this is a slamming deal and with its BDC reticle, SFP and centre dot, a useful addition to either a hunting rifle or a tactical setup.

I’m probably going to pick up another…
