I was watching a reputable US guy doing reviews on Chinese scopes and the factories that produce them.
I've had no trouble with any of my Vortex scopes.
He mentioned Discovery Optics as a company that sells scope in the same class as Arken etc.
My question is twofold.
A. Has anyone ordered from Discovery and what was your experience with customs and additional tarrifs fees?
B. Has anyone bought one and what was your impression of the scope?

discovery has a Canadian distributor. Dude has a YouTube channel that reviews products. Does in house warranty I believe.

Addition - dude we shoot with bought his from AliExpress for cheap.
uses it for Rimfire PRS. My take is it has too small of an eye box and too thick of a reticle. He seems to enjoy it just fine. I know he’s got money for better glass I just don’t think he cares.

I ordered up a Discovery 1-8x LPVO for sh!its and giggles, based on a couple of favourable Youtube videos and the $300 CAD price tag. I am suitably impressed with what I received - enough so that I ordered up 2 more of the same scope. I like the Discovery 1-8x better than the Arken EP-8. As near as I can tell, the glass is about the same, but the Discovery LPVO has a better (simpler) MRAD reticle and locking turrets, which I prefer over the Arken's "Kill-box" Reticle and capped, non-locking turrets. With a 34mm Tube for maximum light transmission, the Discovery 1-8x LPVO offers a bright, sharp image with good colour representation. The overall size is comparable between the two brands of LPVO.

Try one - you might like it!

I also have one and I agree with you, very clear lpvo, hold recoil on a 308 win easily , I also ordered a 1x6 Ed glass lpvo
Good scope for the price

Wondering if anyone knows where to get one in Canada. Was thinking about ordering off their website but im not sure about tariffs.

I ordered a Discovery 3-36 XED on Xmas eve and it arrived today, from China.
I was worried about eye-relief, but that is not a problem, there's plenty.
Packaging is awesome. It came with nice rings, throw-lever and good quality scope caps, plus a lens-cloth and brush - a bundle I estimate at approx $300 extra value based on what I have spent on these items in the past.
There was a 15% discount code on facebook, and I ended up paying $711 &change, with free shipping. I knew there would be a customs hit when it arrived but the charge was actually only $31 to get it in (UPS) - I was prepared for it to be closer to $200, as it cost me $60 to bring in a pair of $120 sneakers in the fall.
So my landed price for the scope/bundle was under $750 canadian.

It isn't the glass I have in my S&B, obviously, and the image is a bit greyer & grainier than you get on a $4k scope, but I like the reticle, the dot is still nice and small at max magnification (another concern I had, as my Riton 3-18 has a 1 inch dot@100yds, which is way too big), the illumination is nice, and overall I am very impressed. If it checks-out at the range I shall likely pick-up another.

I was nervous because I had ordered a Discovery 3x previously, and it was total garbage. I couldn't mount it far-enough back on any rifle to get full-bloom. I will say that this is a totally different experience.

Lastly, these are massive scopes. Massive. When the box arrived it looked like I had ordered a kitchen island.... (OK, not quite, but still....)

I hope this honest feedback helps people with their choices. I was super nervous, but I am now pleasantly surprised.

I have a first gen ed 5-25, a second gen ed 5-25, and an ed 4-20 all purchased through Ali Express. All were purchased during sales for very good prices and free shipping. They all showed up, at my door, with no customs/duty. I've got Swaro Z5s, a Z6, Vortex, Leupolds, etc. and these Discovery scopes are really hard to beat for the price. For what I use them for, they are great.
