I've got a Savage 10 PC with an OAL of 40.5". Im looking for a case or set up that is on the discreet side..

I've seen the threads on discreet cases, but usually they are AR's that you can break down or smaller items.

What sorta suggestions do you have? I know its difficult to be "discreet" with something 40+ inches long..

thx!

Empty hardwood flooring box, I've been using that to bring em in past the wife for years......

One of these days she'll clue in, the basement ain't getting re floored.

I have no idea about a "discreet" case , I normally travel with either a two gun drag bag or a two gun motor case.
Many think the drag bag is actually a gig bag for a guitar, the motor case however looks like another piece of luggage I think.
doesn't matter really, I walk into a hotel like I own the damn place and no one bothers me.
i think a hard shell case is best, most people would just take it for an instrument.

An idea I'm yet to use. It is common to see plastic and homemade surveyor transit cases carried into places in Alberta. Maybe one could be sourced that would work.

What is the reason for needing to be discreet with your firearms? and when does "discreet" turn in to concealed carry and criminal charges in the eyes of law enforcement?

Some of us live in apartment buildings and have nosey neighbours that a black rifle case can bring attention to. I live off of a main street with lots of exposure to neighbours and traffic, i'd rather not being too much attention to myself when I decide to hit the range.

When the intent is to conceal the fact that it is a firearm

That is what the case law says.

Being a photographer, I had a number of lightstand bags and tripod bags to choose from. I use a Manfrotto 110cm lightstand bag to transport my scoped 700 sps tactical .223 and marlin 795. A 41" should fit in there no problem as I think my rifles are the same size. The bag is very well made and very stealthy and attracts no attention. google manfrotto lbag110 and you should find a bunch of pics. It is large enough for two rifles or a rifle and a pump. I inserted a thin layer of neoprene to separate the rifles. Silicone gun socks would work also as padding. I use the bag not to conceal but actually a great way to carry my rifles and keep them from damage. They're shaped perfectly and actually stack/load better than the shaped gun cases that are overly bulky for my rifles.
