Dishwasher m14 warning.

Turned out great!

I am glad I got to see this lmfao.

My friend got his 305 today and decided to try the whole gun in the dishwasher thing and it didn’t turn out so well he put it in on the pots and pans setting and pulled it out right after it was done and this is the result.

I used a bottle of simple green and then some brake clean followed by a rag with some gun cleaner finally a little gun oil on a rag and I was very happy with the results I know there are people on here that have had success with the dishwasher but just be aware that it might cause some harm I’d hate to see more people having this problem.

Wow... I mean I would never personally put gun parts in a dishwasher (have never even heard of that), but I never would have imagined anything could rust like that in one cycle, like less than an hour?? Did he leave it in there for a month afterwards? That's just an incredible amount of rust. Although I guess my brake roters get a bit of rust after washing the car. Still, just wow.

***Whoops...didn't see the date, should have checked lol. Nevermind...

have a old dishwaser and you could prob plumb it to a solvent tank to cycle your gun cleaner solution ie: eds red , would heat it ,spray it around, prob work good , little baskets for the fine parts... lol

Where is "Bubba Smith" when ya need him? (to much lite beer from "Miller")

Thanks for that one
ya made me laugh!

When I heard you should put your "stocks " in the dishwasher
first thing that came to mind was my telco stocks are so far
under water that cleaning up the crime and the grime on the income
statement would be futile anyways hahaha

Anything for a laugh!

Yea we all have done stupid stuff. Live and learn. Back in my car racing days went to see a buddy to see his car and how he was doing. Found him in the garage looking pretty discouraged. Saw that he had added a dish washer under the work bench( a real new model one). And on the bench a rusted power steering pump and other parts. Mentioned that he should look for a new pump as I wouldn't use that one. He be came perturbed and broke down , said he got an great idea and tryed the wife's brand new anniversary gift while she's at work. He flipped open the door it was stained reddish pink allover in side and a bunch of crap at the bottom he then proclaimed this is his new parts washer and said that racing was off for next couple weeks cause he was to spend more time with the wife!:ang

Reminded me of the guy who wanted to really get his AR clean, so he put it in the same cleaning tank we used for our 20mm gun barrels.
On removing the basket with the parts from the solvent tank, all the aluminum parts had dissolved and only the steel bits remained:(

You wouldn't put a cast iron frying pan in a dishwasher, why the hell would you put a gun in there.

Umm... I do it all the time. No rust, no corrosion, not sure why though? The thing was a wedding gift from a previous life, so I'd love to see it rust to pieces but alas it won't go

Nonetheless, no guns in the dishwasher

Heh I wash cast iron pans in the dishwasher too, I just figured I had super-impregnated them with sweet bacon grease so they were impervious to rust....hmmmm which gives me an idea about my guns.... :)

yea like others say i have to call BS on the *he took it out right away* thing.
Ive washed and dried cast iron pans and they start to rust after a day or so but not within 10 min and definitely not like that.

I also boiled the cosmoline off my own M305 in a turkey cooker and let it dry for like 20min and it never had any rust anywhere never mind what looks like 2 years of salt water rust lol.

I get this your being trolled feeling in this post for sure.

that said like i was saying you can dunk each half of the barrel in a turkey cooker full of boiling water if you want to get cosmoline off the barrel inside and out.
