Dishwasher m14 warning.

Alshock.jpg

That is the stupidist thing I have ever seen someone do with a gun, without shooting themselves with it. Un F*ing Believeable. But I guess
that's what you get, when you read on the internets to "put yer gun in the dishwasher". We'll read about this guy again when he shoots his face off checking to see "it's got sumthin in the barrel... dee dee dee"

You wouldn't put a cast iron frying pan in a dishwasher, why the hell would you put a gun in there.

Now that I've mopped the tears of laughter off the floor, and dried my hands so as to not short out this computer, I can finally write this.

This thread is epic, deserves an award and should possibly be stickied lol.

Some of those pesky little details are just a ##### when they're missed. I still wish your buddy good luck in getting it running again, I'd hate to see any gun destroyed, no matter what the method used.

Well I don't know how bad it actually is but some people said re-blue...I'm never the type to even attempt a proper reblue, especially since the surface would need so much finishing work.

I say get some Manganese Phos parkerizing solution and get that M14 blacker than a chalkboard.

seriously folks...... I know i've said it about 10 times in the past month...... I never put my firearms in a dishwasher..... less of this :onCrack: would be in order here hehehehe
as has been said repeatedly in this thread..... the dishwasher technique is for pulling the cosmoline and whatever crap they use in china to finish the chu wood stock..... IF you are planning to refinish it with a product like tung oil for a nicer finish.

The dishwasher will strip the oils from the stock...... and obviously it will also do a fine job of ruining the finish on a perfectly good firearm......

Is this warning just for M14s, or other guns too

If you have to ask...you better send them to me for safe keeping...

don't put metal into water, especially super-hot water... there is no advantage and the risks of damage are extraordinary.

Maybe if you are lazy, and have to clean 2-dozen Glocks or Stainless Steel S&W's in less than 20 minutes while cooking dinner. Other than that, DON"T!
