Hi All,

My brother has about 1500 rounds of surplus Chinese 7.62x39 that he bought for an SKS that he never really used. He wants to get rid of it cause it’s just been in cabinet for about a year. How would one go about disposing of this? He’s in Newfoundland, I’ve heard in other provinces if you bring it to your local police station they will take it for disposal. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

You take it to the police. They will use it for some fake street crime thing. Saying that got ammo off the streets. Just give it to someone that will use it.

What is wrong with your Bro, he doesn't have any friends or neighbors that he can give it away? How about you?

Shoot it, sell it, give it away to friends. Don’t take it too the cops, find someone that will use it. Put a note up at the local range and sell it for a cheap price if he wants it gone quick.

As you guys say down on the Rock Lord be thundering bi . number one if you take that ammo to the police they will ask you where is the rifle to go with this ammo . number two you could sell it . go to a local gun club and ask who wants to buy it . dam and I was going to take a vacation down east to the rock but things never worked out or I could have bought it off you .

Get him to donate it to the closest Club so they can use for an "intro to shooting event" or free "youth shoot" or raffle it off or use it as a door prize at a Club event. Never give anything like this to the police voluntarily… it just goes against good gunny logic!
