I have a barrel that is garbage, barrel is buldges and cracked near the muzsel and too short to cut without making it prohibited. I am planning on removing it from the receiver, but was wondering how what you guys do to get rid of old barrels.

I use them as steel stock for making other things. Bedding pillars, muzzle brakes, sleeves, collars, spacers, etc.

This.^^

It's not like it will hide in the bushes and rob people by itself.

Use it as a tomato stake, or give it so someone that wants a section to use to try chambering, etc.

The only barrels that really need to be 'disposed' of, are those deemed too dangerous to leave unattended in a drawer by themselves due to their extreme shortness (prohib length barrels), but that is yet a fully different realm of stupid.

Try not to over analyze stuff. If you are REALLY concerned that it should get put to use by the stupid, gronk a chunk out of the chamber end with and angle grinder, and then stuff it into the metal stock rack.

Cheers

Once in a while I haul 20 or 30 of them to the metal recycle. Save the larger diameter stainless ones for project material.
