Dont get me wrong, I work in HVAC and I make a butt load of money off scrap copper and brass. For most people, I would imagine the amount lyiing around at any time wouldn't justify the trip to the scrap dealer. If you have a 5 gallon pail, now thats worth a trip. Brass right now is around $1.80 - $2 a pound so I'll leave the math up to you
 
I just recently started to reload so I've only 4,000 spent primers and I haven't decided to what to do with them at this point. I may end up just throwing them out in the trash. It may not be worth the trouble even at $2.00 a pound.
 
I've been saving mine for years too. Probably have 10,000 pr so, but I also have a 5 gallon bucket in the garage half full of "used up" brass, scrap fittings from work, and 4 brass hammer heads to got to the recyclers.
That should weigh up pretty good once it's full.

I found a old "hardware store" 5 gallon pale in the garage with a lid thats now the designated scrap bucket, once its full I will see what I get for all of it, who knows I may get enough for a coffee.

If that doesnt work out for me there are a couple of local charities that collect scrap metal for fund raising.

I am constantly trying to figure out how we survived before the Internet. Who was there to ask the most inane questions to?

I think today's shooters are WAAAAY over thinking the sport at the same time they seem unable to solve even the simplest problem without seeking group consent.

In my 25 plus years of shooting and reloading, it never once occurred to me to ask how to dispose of spent primers. This is truly a new experience for me. :(

:agree: We are over thinking things and over complicating our lives unnecessarily.
 
Spread them all over the back yard. So, when the Gun Gestapo come with their metal detectors to dig up stuff buried "since WWII" they get an earful.

Today's metal detectors will not be fooled by spent primers. Nice try though.
