Well, if I have a choice between getting shot with say, a 9mm gold dot +P or a .45 hardball, I for one am taking the .45. Nice poem though, a trifle obsolete, but it rhymes.

Cocked & Locked, my response to your post is I want to be shot by neither. Regards, Richard:D

...and in last place the 40 S&W. Why? I do not see anything a 40 S&W can do that can't be done as well, using proper loads, by a 45acp or 9mm.

The reverse of that sentence holds true as well...;)
.40S&W is a very versatile cartridge now that there are more bullet types and proper powders available for it.

Methinks you have the gist of it, no doubt either would smart. If I have to die, I'd rather it be of ###ual exhaustion after failing to fight of the dallas cowboys cheerleading squad. (If your gonna dream, dream big!:dancingbanana: )

It's all good. A lot of small frame manufactures are now making larger frame .45AUTO version of their guns, so there's a lot too choose from on the market.

I prefer my .45ACP 1911 grip, but my 9s are just as accurate and cheaper to shoot. My choice to have all three calibers to play with and reload all three. Why sell a .45 to get a 9. Shoot both and have some variety in your life.

Go 45 and stay alive.

If you are trying to practice cheap get a 22 then finish the day with a few rounds of 45. Some 45's, you can get a 22 conversion for.

I don't see much size difference between 45 and 40 other than older guns. 9mm is definately smaller but not as effective.

I like my 45. It is my holy gun because it makes much bigger holey's than a 9mm.:dancingbanana: Caliber is nothing, wound channel diameter is everything. 9mm bounces off windsheilds and leaves 4 legged predators wounded, not downed. I have seem both happen enough to not rely on 9mm. Run away.:runaway:
