Guys,

I am building à induction annealer with a 12-48v 1000w ZVS induction heating bord. I have a question, the thing heats up a steel screwdriver red hot in about 5-6 sec but won’t get a piece of brass nearly hot enough even if I do it for 20sec? Can some of you help me out!

Thanks and if I get it to work I will share the build and part list.

induction heating is based on magnetism, so materials respond vastly differently based on their magnetic characteristics.

Several other variables have an effect, such as frequency. Some frequencies heat the bulk of the material, some only heat the surface, known as a skin effect.

Although it is not necessary the metal be ferromagnetic, the process is more efficient on ferromagnetic metals such as iron and steel alloys. Is the design you are using tested to work on brass cartridges?

Please send me a couple of pics.what is the recipe of your coil I played around with this a couple of years ago I tried a peice of #10 high temp wire wrapped up with the insulation still on it and sent my Amazon board into the junk box as soon as it powered up so much for f*** around to find out lol
