DIY IOTA (Indoor Optical Training Aid)

Thank's for the tip, I have a USO 525x58mm and I arrive at the same results (11-14') with great clarity

It work so well that I decided to push it further, I printed some 30" wide posters with 2moa targets on them (2moa at 4 yards) to practice dry fire on barricades in my basement

Put numbers on the targets

Scope set at 15x
would you be interested in sending those target image files? this is an excellent idea!

Is the +.25 diopter really needed? I seen other diy copy that does not mention this lens.

I had originally tried some of the other DIY ideas, which mostly just used something to reduce the aperture of your scope.

It would work so much as to let my scope somewhat focus on an image close, but the image wasn't very clear, the reticle was very difficult to see, and I was only able to get an image on very low power.

I tried this with several different sized apertures, thinking maybe my ratio was off.. after 10+ tries, nothing came close to what the diopter produces.

Thanks for the reply...I'm pretty rural so expecting to have a hard time getting a lens. If anyone has an extra, I'd gladly buy it or take in trade for a custom holder. I'm 3d printing a few ideas for my razor gen 2 right now, just need a lens

Cheers

Hi guys, currently working on a new upgraded poster sets that I will sell online (lens will also be available online). Website should be running before the Holidays

Here is the product I came out with, the poster has 4 identical range set at different height to be able to practise multiple positions (prone to standing)
Poster is made of high quality banner in a roll up display system, takes less then a minute to set-up

22 targets that are colour codded and numbered (same as MLRSC) plus a "KYL" stage

Index size of the targets

Will have 50 ready to ship by the end of next week

If anyone's interested in some movers practice as well, I've uploaded a mp4 file with a mix of stationary 1MOA @ 2MOA targets, as well as a 3 MOA and 4MOA mover (1MOA roughly being 1/16" @ 12'). The sizes are damn near perfect on my 32" monitor. It's posted at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fZ64u5ZFWycsa2dCCaHRJLhFumIM-RZd/view?usp=sharing

That's an awesome job. In the last couple seconds, you should have a couple targets pop-up out of the swale, and start charging the shooter - just to amp-up the excitement LOL

Really well done, I can see the usefulness of this aid.

Ya, the first two I called played dumb and said there was no such thing. The third lab I called, got this older lady who was genuinely curious to see if it was possible, and their optometrist was equally enthused.

Neat! Which optometrist did you go to? I'd like to give this a whirl. You can PM me if you don't want to post it here. Thanks.
