Many people including myself have been frustrated by the tiny 4-40 set screws on the Leupold CDS dials and their finer than frog hair supplied Allen wrench. When you're not stripping the wrench you're tightening the screws because the dial slipped and you're lost your zero. That tiny wrench won't be in your set.

It's an easy fix. The soft aluminum drills and taps easily and the three holes can be drilled out to 7/64" or .110" with a hand drill while holding the dial in your hand. The bit will follow the old hole; no problem there. Tap the holes to 6-32, change the set screws and neither the dial nor Allen wrench will ever slip again. Easier than falling down a well.

Step two is for those that prefer to use the supplied MOA dial instead of the custom yardage engraved dial, or those using a load for which they haven't had a dial cut. Nothing wrong with that; but it's nice to have a zero-stop like the custom dial has. What I do drill a hole 2 clicks worth to the right of the O mark, and drill and tap for a short 6-32 set screw that will Butt up against the standing post hidden under the dial. You could also use one the left over 4-40s since they aren't good for anything. Just make sure the screw is set flush or below the surrounding metal. You'll need to shorten those though. I've used the Allen wrench as a holder and touched them to an grinder. Warning, it gets hot real fast.

There you go, free and completely functional zero stop, just like the cool kids.
