After a redesign, the improvement in ergonomics is amazing. Even if I say so myself.

The stock is made from crappy Russian Birch laminate such as available at Home Depot. I'll be getting some high quality laminate (the same type used by Boyd's) for making the stocks for both my rifles. This is only a test.

Pic before bedding, sanding and surface finish.

I have normal sized hands.

The design mimics the Dragunov and, although the grip looks massive, it is very comfortable and makes it virtually impossible for the shooter to get anything but a proper pad press on the trigger. Although I have to say that it's definitely not a girly grip (after all, the M14 is a man's rifle).

How was working with the Russian plywood? Was it gappy or generally bad? If not, why not just keep it instead of making another?

What did you use to glue the sable together into a blank?

yup looks mighty fine there
good to see a dragunov version stock taken on by someone.
I assume you will eventually make a bunch to sell to us all :D
a nice deep dark contrasting laminate would look dynamite

Nice work!

Wow, that is very nice:cool:. Thanks for putting ideas in my head.
I love to build things for myself, and this could be my next project, if you don't mind me stealing your idea.
