DIY Stippling

Anyone care to post a pic of the equipment they are using to do this? Where they got it? Tip size? My CT soldering iron tip looks way too big. Did you use a tool with adjustable temp? Options are limited where I'm at so I'd probably try to order it online.
I did a google image search for soldering iron and the first image that pops up is exactly the iron I used to do my stippling.
Tip size will depend on the size of stippling you want to produce. I can't remember what temp I used but I'm pretty sure it was mid to high.

You can also make your own tips for most of these soldering guns as well.
Brass or copper rod readilly avail. at most hardware stores, thread the end and your good to go. You can make longer or angled tips for the hard to get at places that you do not want colateral damage.

I use this exact model myself. I made different shaped tips for stippling out of simple construction nails and a file. Easy to make pointed, bar, chisel, etc tips out of them. And a good/cheap material to test on is that black plumbing pipe. The roundness gives you a good idea of how grippy your stippling pattern is. I was surprised to find that my super large patterns were more grippy than the tiny dots.

It took a bit of digging to find pics,.. but the AR grip was one of my first attempts to inset grip tape and stipple....It's not perfect but shows what you can do with time and a bit of patience(I definatly work slower now to get desired consistancy)
The STI grip was an experiment as well, just some pattern work...again not perfect but I learnt a lot by just playing around.
Keep in mind when asking for prices on this sort of work from whomever that there is usually a lot more time involved than the cost of what your wanting stippled. Doing it for the love of learning and playing around in most cases.
