Looking at building up a bit of a gun rack for in the front of the truck.
Something that can sit in the middle console area while driving between hunting spots.
My guess is a few folks on here have whipped up something similar. Care to share? looking for ideas.
Something like this:

there is a company that builds a cradle that sits ontop of the seat divider, lower profile less likely to garner negative attention

My explorer had a dented console in the second row. It’s bolted to the floor, one day I would like to make something similar, but in the second row out of the way. I think even my crummy welding skills can handle it.

Totally legal to transport non-restricted, uncased and unloaded firearms here in Ontario during hunting season as long as it’s legal hunting hours. (1/2hr either side of daylight)
This could be almost any gun here because our coyotes are open all year long in the south.

I like the over head ones ,from Montana over head racks , but I have a sun roof so I just have it beside me with the mag. in the cup holder

Wholesale Sports used to sell those racks the OP posted. Price was around $175 IIRC. I would also like to get something similar to hold my shotgun because I always see grouse while Im driving to my hunting spot. With the dog kennel on my passenger seat leaning the gun on the seat is no longer an option. Of course this could only be used for transporting firearms while the vehicle is attended and can not be used for storage while the vehicle is not attended.

I like having the gun up front as it's quicker and easier to just jump out and load if you spot game.
Rather than having to open up the rear door as well to pull out the gun.

I have been just laying it up front as others do. The problem is my cup holder folds down from the front dash/console so the rifle butt ends up sliding under the console and pushing the cup holder up, wedging both the gun and my coffee.

I'm also not a huge fan of the overhead racks. I don't like the idea of a gun bouncing around above my head while flying down the logging roads. It's also a major PIA for two people to both grab their guns while seated in the truck, and if you exit the truck and both retrieve your guns it means someone, or both of you, have a barrel pointed towards you. Not that they should be loaded but still not cool.
