DIY tumbler

I just bought one, the local Canadian tire had a bunch of old stock that was cheaper than buying g new from anywhere else. Thought about making something but I figured it was quicker to buy one vs get all the parts together and build one.

If you already have all the parts give it a try, but in my case I had a couple 5 gallon pails I wanted to get cleaned. Zero regrets with buying one, in fact I’m tossing around the idea of buying the smaller FA wet tumbler.

I built one.
I spent the same amount as a Thumlers cost new.
The one i built is a very large capacity, but i don't use it often.
I was gifted a Franford Arsenal tumbler and use it as it has a timer on it and takes less bench space.
feel free to reach out if you have any questions

Easy to buy one for sure but nice to have a custom tumbler.

Is that just DB2 sealed up nice and tight? This is the kind of setup I was considering but I certainly don’t have a motor like that. I suppose I should smash the old junker and see what I’m working with first 😅. This was just something I was thinking about in my truck waiting for work to start this am.

Yes. No leaks at all.

Built one similar to johnnys. Works great. Had a motor laying around as well as some 5” abs.

Fits a gazillion 9mm. After a couple hours they pin my OCDometer to 100. Super duper clean. Leaks a touch but very minimal. If you got the parts around and a princess auto in town I’d go for it. If not, buy one. I think they would all equally provide super clean brass in the end. No wild patent pending invention there to really make a wild difference to the outcome IMO

Here’s mine. I see the design is a popular one.

The drums are from my Extreme unit. With both drums on, I can tumble 30# of brass. It works with either one or two drums. It has a 1/4HP motor and grease zerks for lubing the bearings. When I shoot a lot, I can clean large volumes quickly.
