So those who frequent the B&G Rifles section may have heard about my little project.

To summarize, my goal is to build a match grade AR designed around a 'designated marksman' standpoint, that can attain 1 or less MOA precision.

So far- the build has started somewhat slow. I'm hoping after I can sell a few items that I can get this project rolling on at a faster pace.

1st Update: NEA Lower Receiver received. Purchased at site sponsor SFRC. Thanks Ryan & Marcie!
Why did I choose a NEA lower? Not only was the price enticing and the dealer actually having stock of the item, (in comparision to other lowers I was considering, from different dealers) but they seem to have a good reputation surrounding them, with excellent customer service from the manufacturer. As well- I was impressed with the quality of my other NEA15.

WAIT- Something is missing!
An e-cookie for whoever figures it out.

As for modifications to this lower- I'll be switching out the stock for a Magpul PRS defintely. The grip? I'd like to improve upon it, so I may try my hand at stipling the factory grip, or installing either a Magpul or Hogue Grip. As well- the stock trigger is defintely going- going to be trading up to a RRA or a Geisselle trigger- although I haven't decided on the model yet.

So...You're basically telling us your "build" consists of a lower receiver to date? I appreciate your enthusiasm but was it worth starting a thread on?

Not sure why you bought a complete lower receiver assembly only to end up replacing everything including the trigger. Are you thinking about of going to an aftermarket single stage or two stage trigger? If two stage, I think you'd have been far better off buying a complete Armalite lower (minus butstock) for $375.

Where you're so undecided on what it is you're actually going to "build", perhaps even a stripped lower with a basic parts kit was all you needed to buy at this point? It would appear to me that you're putting the "cart before the horse", so to speak. Why not actually sit down and plan out your "build" on paper from top to bottom and then decide on what to buy? Otherwise, you're potentially going to waste some of your money.

I can't wait to see another youtube video of yourself standing infront of the mirror with this thing, racking the bolt over and over, while lamenting over the fact that security guards aren't taken seriously as "law enforcement professionals".......gecko45's little cousin has come of age :HR:

Holy Thread Resurrection!
Yeah, been a while, and I'm still building this- here's a new pic to share, details below:

NEA Lower- completely gutted. Installed an RRA Lower Parts Kit and a Geissele SSA-E trigger.
A2 stock purchased from CGN user off the EE.
The upper is a 6.8 SPC, CMMG, with a 16" barrel. Looks beastly.

The scope is a Bushnell DOA 250 4-9x40. I've been shopping around for QD bases, and I still haven't picked one up yet.
Need to get my bipod and bipod attachment piece from Wolverine. Might be heading out west again this summer for vacation, so I might just pick it up then.

I've been thinking of acquiring one of the KAC 45 degree offset rails from OST and mounting an iron sight up front for distances closer than 100 yards.

Thoughts?

Burris PEPR quick release mounts are nice. I use them for my ammo testing scopes.

Atlas bipod with quick release is the best. It has a tilt and wobble function which can be adjusted for resistance when swapping on rifles of differing weight.
If that isn't a floating hand guard on your rifle I would skip the bipod altogether, it will likely mess with your point of impact.

I'd suggest you get the scope mount and an oversized charging handle to complete your rifle. The stock charging handle can be frustrating to work under a scope.

6.8. Interesting. Have you shot it yet? Tackiekewl accessories generally don't contribute much to accuracy. Get the PEPR, get it out to the range, and let us know how it shoots. If you have any plans to use it in service rifle competition, forget the bipod, and learn how to use a 5-30 as a monopod.

Haven't shot it yet tiriaq. Don't know if I want to do service rifle or F-class with this rifle. I know that if I want to shoot F-class, I'll need single sled mags.
Oversized handle, en route, hopefully soon, from Questar.

Well, you will be the only one on the line with a rifle like this if you shoot it in F class competition. You don't need a SLED to fire an AR with single rounds.

dj, you're not going to shoot F class with this rifle, especially not with a 16" barrel.

You ARE going to shoot service rifle with it, and love it.

You're gonna have to dump the optic though for something with external, adjustable turrets. There's a lot to choose from out there, and a lot of it works on a budget. My Nikon M223 2-8 has been great. Bushnell has some new budget 1-4's as well, and, there's always Leupold and Vortex as well.
