I have the 20" barell as well, on a Houge overmoulded stock, the accuracy of the gun went from absolute crap to awesome overnight with the addition of the barell, I'm sure you'll like it.

You should try it in a boyd stock. I started off in a Hogue, the boyd is soooo much better.

Nice bedding job. I am going to give mine a go after seeing this.
 
Any issues when you transferred your bolt into the new reciever? My bolt went in easy enough but when I set in the trigger group it tightened to the point that the bolt won't rack/cycle...

I didn't have any problems with mine. I stoned the bolt and polished the guide rod before I installed the action in the stock. I had no problems when I installed the trigger group. What type of trigger group are you using, factory aluminum or plastic or an aftermarket?
 
Got it out today. Conditions were perfect, it was cloudy and the wind was perfectly still. All testing was done at 25 yards. I broke in the barrel on this target cleaning it a total of 8 times before finishing the target. The upper left group is the first five rounds shot out of the barrel. All the other groups were ten rounds.

The next target is the first target I shot for groups. Each group contains a total of ten rounds through it. Ammo was Fiocchi Performance SV. I cleaned and seasoned the barrel with ten rounds before starting the groups.

I was quite happy with this first target and the DAR 22 seemed to like this ammo with only one malfunction from a crappy mag.


I cleaned the barrel and seasoned it on the next brand of ammo. Winchester T22 Target. The rifle really seemed to like this ammo but it refused to feed it reliably. The case rim was quite noticeably larger than the Fiocchi and I suspect it was dragging on the mags which was causing the feeding errors. It also caused me to have to break position numerous times which negatively affected groups. The malfunctions bent the leads causing them to be unusable and also causing me to run out of ammo before I could complete a full target. Again each group, except for the last were ten rounds.

All things considered, I'm quite happy with the performance of this rifle. I have more ammo I want to test, and It's obvious that I need better bench rest equipment, especially a rear bag. I used a dump pouch filled with various things from my range bag for a rear bag for this session.:redface: I shot from the bi-pod which was rested on an old folded towel. I did end up needing to use a piece of pipe insulation on the stock to get the proper cheek weld, it worked well and was quite comfortable.

Some new 25 yard targets...
Picked up some more Winchester Super X (T22) based on the performance of the last T22 target. The DAR 22 (which I've now dubbed the "Mall Ninja") hated it. Must have been a different lot than the last batch I had because but it was just like lightening, it never struck the same place twice!

Next up was CCI SV Target. Solid results, almost on par with the Fiocchi.

Next I tried Federal HV Match. Good performance, though with some odd results. For almost every group I shot, the first three rounds were almost through the same hole, then the groups started to open up. Meh...

I must say that shooting groups in this fashion has been an interesting experience. I'm only able to get through three targets in about 2 hours of shooting. It's a more fatiguing process than I thought it would be. I have much respect for those than can do more than three targets in one shooting session and not take a lot of breaks. I did these ones pretty much back to back, only breaking to clean the rifle between each type of ammo and load magazines. Shooting targets in this fashion does give you a very good idea of what the particular brand of ammo is capable of in your rifle.

So far it looks like the Fiocchi is the best overall performer in this rifle. I'm happy with it's results and the amount of ammo I've tested. Time to purchase a bunch of it and start some longer range testing. Next time I'll take it out to 110 yards (our range only has 25, 75, 110 and 200 yard berms).

If you can find it, eley practise, standard or trainer (something like that) worked really well for me and is not too expensive - or at least it wasn't years back.

CCI Blazer is another that has shot really well for me.
