Dlask 12.5'' ???

Yup, opened mine today and the barrel is marked for 2 3/4 and 3 inch. I'm very inpressed with the quality, and the front sight is a nice bonus.

Maybe you did get what Dlask calls 12.5" long.

Doesn't the barrel in "spi's" photo above appear longer than 12.5"? Looks to me more like 13.5" long.
Even if it is a bit longer, it does look like a nice barrel for sure.

A 12.5" barrel should be just about flush with the end of the magazine cap.

Barrel length is measured from the bolt face to the muzzle. Maybe "spi" can measure his barrel
for us and let us know exactly what the number is?

Here's McCoy's 12.5" barrel from the photo gallery and how it measures up installed onto
the receiver:

Regards.

Sorry Easy, but the gun in the picture is not mine!

Unfortunately no, this is a true 14" barrel, the invoice even says 14". I called the shop today and they will be sending the proper barrel to me. All I have to do is take this one to the post office and 'return to sender' free of charge. So hopefully it all works out. I thought SPI's was a little long as well, it appears 13-13.5" long. While Ike's is a true 12.5". (Gen 1 Dlask?) I hope it is an actual 12.5 not a 13. Can anyone confirm actual length of the 2nd generation barrels and post more pics??? I'll post pics of my "12.5" if it ever gets here.

I just measured it. Slightly less than 12.5" if you measure from the reciever, and exactly 12.75" from the edge of the breach with the barrel out of the gun.

I must be seeing an optical illusion in your previous photo then.

I must say I am impressed with what I see and read of your comments on this barrel. Right on!

McCoy, I thought that PG gauge was yours as I thought seeing it in your post in the photo gallery.

Baalan, any chance of producing parkerized 12.5" in the future?

PS I'm also interested knowing how that front sight will impact with slugs, say at 100 yards with a rear Scattergun GhostRing sight?

Anyone try this barrel for accuracy?

I'd imagine point of impact will be quite high with such a low front sight infront of a scattergun ghost ring.

Easy, I have the same concern.

I'd be interested in a 12.5; my current barrel is a factory 14" w/ Scattergun front sight.

Yeah I have the same 14", it would be interesting to know, the question is can you adjust the scattergun rear sight enough to use the low dlask front blade sight??? If I had my 12.5" barrel I could check... anyone else own both to check for us??? Regards though, good news about the new barrels being a legit 12.5".

I was out shooting shotguns today.

As a reference point, my 14" barrel shoots nutz on at 75 yards with the rear GR sight centered verically on its base with the matching Wilson front sight ..... That is with a Rem factory Modified choked barrel.

With my Cylinder bore 14" barrel the same slug, rear sight setting and yardage, will print about 8-12 inches higher. More or less.

I don't think you'd be able to adjust the rear GhostRing sight low enough to be on paper with that low Dlask front sight.

Here's a surprize, to me anyway; My 18" IC choke shot exactly to the same POI as my MOD 14".

F@(k I love Remington gauges!!

Regards.

This is really interesting. Can one conclude that with a tighter choke you can raise the POI, or vice versa with a more open choke? This sounds like a case for threading the barrels to accept choke tubes.

In my case, the 14" CYL bore barrel shot higher than my MOD 14".

If it matters to anyone, I extended the forcing cone in my Modified choke barrel to about 1-3/8". The other two barrels are as they came from the factory.

Also all three gauges wear different types of buttstocks. That might also make a difference in how the barrel prints. I think.

Keep in mind, every barrel will shoot differently. Even if they are of consecutive manufacture off the line.

I think the Dlask installed blade sight was meant to replace the front bead on a ramp and I don't think they intended to make it work with a GhostRing rear sight. The actual Scattergun tritium front sight might still be able to be installed right over top of the Dlask blade sight, much like installing right over the ramp on a factory sight.

Regard.
