Hi,

I'm looking for some feedback on the Dlask 16.5" SS target chamber barrel? I've used their receiver in a previous 10/22 build and can't say enough good things about it, but I haven't tried their barrels? How would they compare to say the Kidd or Shilen drop-ins?

i currently run a 18.5 X-Treme chamber on my target gun and love it.
i also have a 8" sporter on my blaster and love it.
compared to other barrels ive shot and owned the Dlask ones are usually heavier in weight.
and i would say the Dlask barrels are some of the finest you can get for a 10/22.

just be aware that the Bentz chamber can be finicky with certain types of ammo due to length.

I have a 16.5" fluted blued barrel with the x-treme chamber. Dropped right in and shoots much tighter than the factory barrel. It is a bit picky with ammo.

the fit should be very tight.
if its not you could be in for some trouble.
something about explosive gases taking the path of least resistance or some such thing.
had a good chat with Joe Dlask about it one day, very nice fella to talk too.

I have a 12.5" with the X-treme chamber and it's nice and accurate but very very pick about ammo. I've had a few out of battery problems with Remington ammo, and they told me not to shoot CCI out of it for this reason. About the only ammo I've gotten to feed for more than 10 rounds is Federal bulk, and I haven't been able to get any of that for months now. I think I'm going to change it out for a barrel with the normal chamber.

Engineer, yes it was a Ruger receiver. Just a bit of wiggling to get it seated in properly.

Alkali, I believe you can send the barrel back to Dlask and they will ream the sporter chamber for you.

Mine was similar, it was a real PITA to break-in. I think this is why Dlask has switched to a "Target" chamber and does not build the "X-treme" anymore. However, it is worth sticking with the X-treme if you really want the accuracy longterm. It will get better. PM me if you want more help/advice. Have you tried Federal Auto Match, mine loves this ammo. Also Remington Sub sonic is worth a try (in stock at Wolverine).

Dlask does still make the X-treme chamber they just dont sell it to people who dont request it because so many people who dont know what it is or how it works where complaining about it when it was operating exactly the way it should.

and yes, Dlask will put the barrel into the receiver for you if you ask, i had him do a couple for me.

Thanks Auggie, good to here, I'm leaning that way right now. When I said tight I mean the reciever in the oven, the barrel in the freezer, anti-seize and a large hammer. Let's just say I probably didn't need the v-block. It does shoot like dream however.

How much does the X-treme differ from the Bentz, or does it? I generally only shoot SK Standard Plus (sometimes SK Magazine), and it feeds fine in the Kidd with Bentz chamber.

the x-treme is a Bentz chamber.
and for the record ive never had a issue with mine with any round ive put in it.
i believe there was only a couple of manufacturers that dont work in the Bentz chamber due to size.

Just dropped off my Baby at Dlask for a 16/5 Polished .920 Target but with a slight rim out to Sporster for better ammo feed. Full trigger and vblock work. Cant wait to pick her up! They do good stuff!

Hey guys, great feedback in this thread. I was just wondering if any one has any experience with the dlask tapered x-treme barrels. I took one in a trade recently and was thinking of swapping it to a current 10/22 build I have, but have not been able to find any information/feedback on it. I am assuming this was dlasks x-treme barrel version for sr-22 replacements? It is .920 than necks down to .800 threaded.

I have the 16.5 stainless ,fluted barrel and the Target chamber.First time at the range it ate everything I fed it with no malfunctions and was getting pea sized groups with Federal Target Auto-Match ammo.Didn't like the bulk Winchester 333 or Federal 525 bulk. The groups opened up big-time with those. Also have Dlask reciever and CNC bolt and trigger job.:dancingbanana:

With the Xtreme barrels, remember to break them in properly!!!, stick to match ammo, Federal or Eley and its gonna rock! its even tighter fitting then Target. Accuracy for full or tapered barrells is the same....unless you doing LOTS of consecutive fire, then the heat will most likely open up the group and +1 in point of aim :)

my 2 cents.

any input on the xtreme vs target chamber? i have my order in for a build and currently have chosen the target chamber with the 16" stainless fluted barrel. at this point im waiting for the receiver to be anodized so its a couple more weeks until they start putting it together. i keep wondering if i should switch the barrel.
