Dlask 16" .920" Target Barrel + Compensator/Flash Hider

Finally received my Hogue stock today, so I fitted the 16" non-fluted barrel.

Damn that was a struggle to get that sucker in there. I stuck the barrel in the freezer for 2 hours, and tried again.. not much better than before.

I tried turning the barrel in, and had some success by turning more than pushing.

Eventually I had it in up to the end of the extractor groove, and that was enough for the V-block screws to grip the receiver, then the rest was history. Turned each screw 1/4 turn at a time to get it the rest of the way in.

Looks like I'm gonna be cleaning the 10/22 from the muzzle end from now on...:owned:

I was VERY careful to get the extractor to match the groove on the barrel before I squeezed it into the receiver, as I have a very pessimistic prediction of the future that usually turns out to be correct. I visualized myself getting the barrel in, extractor not lining up, and not being able to get the barrel back out.

I thought of sanding the receiver first to make it a little easier, but:

a) I didn't have sandpaper any coarser than 600 grit automotive;

b) I didn't feel like heading out to get it; and

c) I didn't like the idea of loosening the receiver, as the factory barrel already fit pretty loosely, and I didn't want to be stuck using the ONLY barrel that fit the receiver (although it looks like I may have achieved that result in a different, unexpected way :redface:).

Overall she looks good, I can't wait to see how she shoots!

I fitted my 12'' dlask and after a wicked struggle I used a heat gun, it took about 15 seconds to heat it enough to go. move the heat gun frequently to get an even heat, and remeber it dont take much. the barrel slipped right in once it was done.

I was worried about extraction problems, but so far I havent had any issues and ive got about 200 rounds through mine.
