I got a 1911 CanAm deal (all these threads start this way, I know) and I wanna swap out some stuff for shiny stuff. I wanna get a stainless trigger, hammer, and slide stop. I figured the best (only?) place to get decent priced stuff in Canada is Dlask. In the stock pictures the coloring looks off. Like it doesn't match. Does anyone have experience with these three things from Dlask? Do they match or is it like, grey, silver, shiny, etc.

I sent Dlask an email but no response so I figured I would post up here

1) as a general rule, aftermarket triggers for a 1911 are aluminum. I don't know that NOBODY makes a stainless trigger, but I've never seen one. The aluminum ones are generally bead blasted and not shiny, but matte.

2) you will minimize your headaches by buying all your ignition parts from one manufacturer...just a handy tip. I sometimes see people with a Wilson sear, an EB hammer, and a LB disconnector, usually because they have no idea what they're doing and are just buying a sampler pack of parts.

3) don't forget that 1911s are not Glocks. Parts replacement often involves fitting of the parts (and it should always involve, at a minimum, skilled evaluation of the interaction of the parts). If you are not prepared for this, or the sudden loss of reliability that comes with unfitted parts...leave the gun alone.

Generally people that are some what skilled enough to work on a 1911 allready have an idea on where to get parts. Most parts will need to be polished or plated not to sound like a prick but how much 1911 tinkering have you done in the
past?

Fusion firearms is the place to order from in my experience. Tons of section, quality parts, great pricing. Having said that, if you are messing around with the internals on your 1911 without a smith I hope you know what your doing! Most parts won't be perfect drop in so get your grinder and polishing stones ready.

No experience. But I figure I gotta learn somehow. I agree on the all one source with ignition. I figure DLASK is good stuff. Matte is not problem, I was just wondering how close to matching it would be. I can always polish the aluminum as well I guess.
