Dlask 8.5" Rem 870

I just picked up my Alberta ATC 2 - 3 weeks ago and have had my BC ATC for over 5 years.

If you need any help with your application feel free to pm me and I will help you out as much as I can...

Actually, as a field geologist, I do. But I am used to carrying either my Fabarm or my 45/70 GG, although I would like to get something smaller thats non-restricted. I know it's a great little shotgun, and more compact than what I have.....but it's $900!!! I've heard the cliche "but you're a rocksniffer, you got lots of money" and you know what....It's not disposable $$$ right now.....not when I have 2 capable arms and a good chance at an ATC. (I am applying for my ATC regardless for work purposes, but would rather not have the paperwork headache if I can avoid it)

It's just a waiting game now anyways......this could be tied up in court for years if it's anything like other suits and battles I know of.

Quick update, in case no one has gotten through to Dlask regarding the chinese 8.5s, they replied "if we have lot of interest we will bring them". Lets show them we want them!

I got my 8.5" a few weeks ago, took it to the range a few days later to try it out, was impressed with the fact that it hit paper with 00 Buck (or is it OO buck? nevermind) and got consistent slug placement. Put it away then, figured it was something to hold onto for "just in case" and the cool factor.

Took it out yesterday for some shooting at my friend's farm and when he brought out the clay pigeons and the trap, I gave it a try with some #6 loads, for ####s and giggles . . . colour me surprised! Out of the 10 pigeons thrown for me only two failed to break and that was because I missed, not because the gun couldn't do it! And since it is such a neat toy, we passed it around. Anyone of us that was able to break clay with the other guns was able to do it - consistently - with the DLASK! Every time I cleaned it, someone else turned up and I was asked to take out my 8.5" and show it off again! But I'm used to that by now<grin>

My conclusion is that the 8.5" 870 makes an acceptable bush gun, whether you are packing it for bear, an emergency game gun (note I mean survival, NOT hunting) zombies or whatever. Even if you just get it for the cool factor. This is a legitimate firearm with a legitimate purpose that just happens to be shorter and lighter. It is now legal. If or when someone tell us we can't have them, it will be too late.

I've got mine. If you cancelled your order, you don't. 'Nuff said.

My Dlask Rem 870 with 8.5 inch barrel, Knoxx Specops, and PowerPak (Sig P226DAK thrown in for giggles ;) )

As you can see, it measures legal with the Knoxx fully collapsed....by about 0.5 - 0.75 of an inch. :D

Anybody got a pic of it with the stock installed?

What's the latest with this? Keep the full stock installed unless at the range?

Not a great pic, but here's mine....
I keep the pistol grip on it now cause it fits better in the saddle bag!

Backwoods, that is pretty styling!:dancingbanana:

Do you have a pic of it with the stock collapsed?

So I guess that presently these shotguns are unrestricted wiht a full stock, but restricted with only the pistol grip? Or are they still unrestricted regardless of stock/pistol grip?

I know there was a bit of a :runaway: going on with designations at one point.

What's not to love?

Thank you very much for the info Backwoods and I must say that your shorty looks pretty awesome. I was contemplating getting the Knoxx Spec Ops, but was told it would be too short to stay nonrestricted. I already had the spec ops ordered for another 870, but I'll order another one and put it on my 8.5" first. Does the recoil reducer make much of a difference on the shorty? :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Thanks guys. No prob Si###. LIke I said, its got half to three quarters of an inch over legal measured any which way I could get it....which is just perfect.
:)
Gatehouse: That pic is fully collapsed. I could take one extended if you like....maybe I'll yard it down to the range today for some slug practice. ;)

Please do post a pic of it extended....I'm tempted to buy one and add the Knoxx stock just liek yours. Practical, and at the same time- Hilarious!:D

And kinda cute, too!:)

The Powerpak is optional, and to be honest, I'm not sure I like the cheek weld as of yet. It's a little high for the Dlask sight picture.

Trade publications say the power pack comes with cheek pieces of varying height. Is it that you don't have the different heights or none of them work for your setup?
